About Mayne HomeWatch
Local property checks and practical home care for Mayne Island homeowners who are away from their property.
About Mayne HomeWatch
Mayne HomeWatch was created to meet a practical need on Mayne Island.
Many homes on the island are owned by people who are away for part of the week, part of the season, or several months at a time. When those owners are off island, simple problems can become difficult to manage. A windstorm, water leak, power outage, blocked driveway, contractor access issue, or damp crawl space concern can create stress and cost if no one local is available to check and document what is happening.
Mayne HomeWatch provides a local, organized, and documented service for those situations. The work is based on clear checklists, careful property notes, photo reports, and practical follow-up. The goal is not to replace licensed trades, inspectors, emergency services, or insurers. The goal is to provide reliable eyes on the property and a practical local point of contact when the owner is away.
Mayne HomeWatch inspection reports are a proof that your home was inspected during your absence to protect your home insurance coverage.
Who is behind Mayne HomeWatch
Mayne HomeWatch is led by Jean-Daniel Cusin, Managing Director and full-time Mayne Island resident since 2015.
Jean-Daniel is a trusted community member with a long record of local involvement. He has served in volunteer and leadership roles with Mayne Island Assisted Living Society, the Lions, the Gulf Islands Food Co-op, the Southern Gulf Islands Community Justice Program, and the Mayne Island Collective, where he serves as Executive Director.
Before launching Mayne HomeWatch, Jean-Daniel owned and operated Mayne Island Kitchen and Bath Inc., a local renovations company. That background gives him practical familiarity with homes, building systems, trades, access issues, and the importance of clear communication with property owners.
This service brings together local accountability, practical property experience, and a disciplined approach to documentation.
